Women's V8+ Ranked 10th in the Country

The April 22, 2015 polls have placed the Women's Varsity 8+ as the 10th fastest team in the country. The poll, voted on by ACRA coaches, ranks team based on relative speed and recent performances. The Illini received 5 votes, placing them 10th on the list. Grand Valley, who remains in 1st place since their debut at #1 in early April, received 59 votes (including 5 first place votes), followed by Illinois' BigTen rival Purdue with 54 votes (including 1 first place vote). This is the first time an Illinois Varsity 8+ has broken the Top-10. So far this season, Illinois had not received any votes for the ACRA Poll, but the strength of the entire Women's Team performance at the ICRI gave Illinois the boost it needed to make the poll. The Illini will have to confirm their standing as a Top-10 team this weekend at the MACRA Championship in Ann Arbor, MI. They will be facing 3 Top-10 teams (#1 Grand Valley, #2 Purdue, and #5 Middlebury), as well as Cincinatti and Chicago who rank just off the Top-10 list. The poll is available at row2k.com.
