The Clinton Lake Rowing Center

In order to support the current and future growth of programs at the Clinton Lake Rowing Facility and Racing Venue, the University of Illinois Rowing Clubs and the Illinois Rowing Association is committed to invest in a boathouse and other site improvements, as well as rowing equipment and transportation solutions to ensure that all user groups have access to all the possible tools for their success. The Illinois Rowing Association’s rowing facilities are located in the Clinton Lake State Recreation Area in DeWitt County, Illinois. This has been the home of the University of Illinois Rowing Teams since the spring of 2017, and has been the site of both the ICRI and the IJRI regattas since their inception.

The Clinton Lake Rowing Venue is an amazing resource for rowing. Located on the North East end of the lake. It consists of a 1.5 mile (2400m) section of Clinton Lake, designated a no-wake area, and bordered on two ends by bridges. The ILRA has installed has over 160 feet of rowing dock, and a 6 lane buoyed 2000m course. The ILRA is committed to continued improvements to this wonderful resource for rowing.

The ILRA leases the land at the Parnell Boat Access Area from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (DNR). In November 2019 Illinois Rowing Association was able to extend their lease for an additional 10 years, as well as receive permission to improve the facility with an expanded rowing course, more extensive docks and a permanent Boathouse.
