Recap: Day 2 at ACRA National Championships
The big news from Georgia is that the Novice Women's 4+ from Illinois are National Champions. The Novice Women's 4+ won the Grand Finals, narrowly beating out Vanderbilt who pressed the Illini the entire way. This is the first National Title for the University of Illinois who has had a competitive program for 4 years. The Novice Men's 4+ also raced and fought hard, holding 3rd place in the Petite Finals for most of the race. However, the push to break into a top-10 stretched the Illini thin in the last 500m as they slipped to finish in 6th place in the Petite Finals ahead of Penn State and Ohio State, earning them 14th in the country.Congrats to all the Illini for a great season, and thank you to all family who made the trip out to watch the racing.
