Illini Reach Grand Finals at MACRA

The Fighting Illini Women's 4+ managed to win their heat to capture a spot in the Grand Finals this weekend at the Mid-American Collegiate Rowing Association (MACRA) Championships. The Women's 4+ raced well, capturing 4th in the final behind Grand Valley, University of Chicago, and Purdue. This was the first loss this season by the Novice Women, who started their season with a win over Vanderbilt in Nashville.The Novice Men's 8+ rowed well in their heat, but slipped to 4th place in a fast heat. They went on to the Petite Finals, where they won by a commanding margin. The Novice Men's 4+ surprised most of the field by qualifying for the Petite Finals over the Third Level Finals, where they took third. The Varsity Men's 4+ narrowly missed the Petite Finals, but managed to come away with 3rd place in the C Finals with a strong time.This rounds out the Illini's regular season, and select crews will begin the long prep for the National Championships in May
