Danielle Saubert named to All-Regional Squad
Today, Novice Women's rower Danielle Saubert added another accolade to her long list of achievements this season by being named to the First Boat All-Great Lake Conference. This honor recognizes the best 8 female rowers and 1 coxswain from the Great Lakes Conference of the American Collegiate Rowing Association (ACRA) based on individual and team performance. Danielle joins three rowers from Purdue, and four rowers and one coxswain from Grand Valley to be honored this year. What makes Dani's achievement more impressive is that she is the only Novice Woman from any school to be named to the squad. The selection of the All-Regional Squads is a precursor to the selection of the All-American Squad later this week.Danielle is the first Illini Rower ever to be named to an All-Regional Squad. She will be honored in a ceremony Saturday Evening at Lake Lanier, GA which is the site of the 1996 Olympic rowing event, and currently the site of the 2012 ACRA Championships. A link to the official announcement will be posted when it is posted on the ACRA website. Keep checking back for photos of the event.
