Head of the Eagle

On Halloween, we made the short trip over to Indianapolis to race against a number of strong Midwest crews at the Head of the Eagle. The course had changed from the last time Illinois was at the regatta and now includes a full 180 degree turn to starboard shortly after the start. Additionally, a new addition to the race was the sprint challenge for the eights at the end of the day. Final placements were determined by combining the total times from the head races and a 1000m seeded head-to-head sprint.Illinois raced a large number of boats, including a women's 2-, two men's 2-, women's 4+, men's 4+, women's novice 4+, two men's novice 4+, women's novice 8+, two men's novice 8+, women's varsity 8+, and two men's varsity 8+. Special congratulations go to Jenny Buschbach and Lindsey Cusack, who completed their first race in a pair and came away with the gold medal.Full results for the head racing can be found here, and the final sprint challenge can be seen here.
