Head of the Charles 2018 Recap

This past weekend the team had the amazing opportunity to travel to Boston and race on the Charles River for the Head of the Charles. They headed out Thursday evening, and practiced Friday revving up for the racing on Saturday and Sunday racing.On Saturday, the Men's Varsity 4+ competed in the Men's Club Fours event. This was the first Head of the Charles regatta for all the rowers in this boat, in addition to the coxswain. They gave an amazing effort, even facing a small collision, in which they finished with a time of 23:12.670.On Sunday, the Women's Varsity 8+ competed in the Women's Collegiate Eights event. Despite the high winds, and chilly weather they persevered and ended with a time of 20:32.256. Not to mention, passing three crews during the course of the race, and finishing 22nd out of 28th.The team is very appreciative for Illini Rowing alumni that hosted the rowers over the long weekend and are extremely excited for what the rest of the season has in store with some upcoming races.
