No Final for Women's 8+ at Crew Classic

The Women's V8+ had a great race, finishing half a seat down on UC San Diego in their heat. Unfortunately, they forgot to bring aboard the coxswain's 1.7lbs ballast weight during the race and were excluded from the final as a result. The ruling came as a blow to the crew that traveled all the way out to race - a hard lesson learned for the crew. The team did however put down a good race in their heat. The Illini were overstroked for the majority of the race, but managed to keep pace with the field. They mounted a late race charge in which they closed half a boat length on UCSD, finishing less than 0.2sec down on them. The 6th place finish in their heat was well earned, racing among the fastest Club Varsity crews in the nation. The Women's Crew will race alongside the Men's Crew next weekend at the Don Lubbers Cup in Spring Lake, MI.
