New Trailer and Spring Break Day 1

Our trailer got us from race to race, season after season. Threading the boats through built character and might've been a formative life lesson for some. As the seasons dragged on, the trailer became more of a hazard to carry boats; the axel was clearly needing attention, the crossbeams rusted through. The team continued using the trailer until a deer ran into it last fall going to the Bald Eagle Collegiate Invitational, seriously damaging what was left of the trailer. Our incredible alumni helped make our new trailer possible along with student-athlete fundraising. The team participated in the Erg-A-Thon and fundraising before and since then to help offset the costs. The ILRA also offered incredible coordination to allocate the funds to safely get our boats to and from regattas. For this, we cannot be more grateful. When loading it for our spring break travels, it took us a fraction of the time and the boats were safely loaded instead of precariously threaded through the beams like the old trailer. We chose Illini Orange to continue the tradition and proudly represent our school.Today we arrived in Gainesville, Georgia for spring break. We unloaded the trailer, rigged our boats, and went out on the water for the first time since November. After a long day spent in a bus, we were thankful to stretch our legs and work on some drills before heading back to the Guest Lodge, where we have previously stayed during spring training and ACRA.Displaying IMG_3564.jpg
