ACRA Academic All-Americans Announced
Today, 7 athletes from the University of Illinois were recognized for their academic achievements. To be eligible for Academic All-American honors, a student athlete must have Junior or Senior standing and possess a cumulative GPA of 3.85 or higher for 1st Team All-American, and a GPA of 3.5 or higher for 2nd Team All-American.Four members of the Illini Squad earned 1st Team Honors: Jason Hempstead, Alexander Lakocy, Katie Ruhl, and Erik Stanek. Three more earned 2nd Team Honors: Christopher Marr, Samantha Sanders, and Cameron Skelding.These seven lead the academic achievements of their athlete-scholars peers. The 50-person squad combined for an impressive team average cumulative GPA of 3.33, one of the highest for a sports team at the University.Congratulations to our athletes on their success in the classroom this season, and special congratulations to our 7 distinguished honorees.
